About Mishu Shrestha & Mishus
Fashion is my dream, my passion. Growing up in entrepreneurial family and having seen how my parents were able to establish successful businesses from scratch, I have always been determined to follow my dreams. But the path to follow my dreams did not come the easy way. With no formal training in fashion designing nor any work experience in the fashion industry, I spent years working in the manufacturing and hospitality businesses before I got an opportunity to take the first step towards fulfilling my dream. Finally, in 2012, I enrolled myself at the Milan Fashion Campus in Milan, Italy for a six-month course in fashion and textile design. Upon the completion of the course, I was confident enough to pursue my dream of being a fashion designer.
I knew I had to face challenges, overcome obstacles and experience failures. I knew it would not be easy. I took inspiration from my parents who showed to me that hard work, dedication and believing in myself are crucial in making my dream into reality. At the end of 2012, I officially launched my own fashion label MISHUS specializing in cashmere women wear and eveningwear. Challenges I had to face were plenty. With every challenge, I became more determined. Finally, my breakthrough arrived when I was provided with an opportunity to work with Miss Nepal World 2013, Ishani Shrestha. I designed a part of her wardrobe for her participation at the Miss World 2013 held in Indonesia. She made history by being the top 10 finalists, an accomplishment no other Nepalese contestant has ever achieved and by winning the Beauty with Purpose title. It was proud moment to see her wearing my design during this beauty pageant. In the following years, my fashion creations were displayed at various national and international beauty pageants. It is definitely a privilege to dress the beautiful women of Nepal who represent our country at international stage but I feel very honored to design and dress everyday women who are my clients and who have put their faith in me. Without my clients, I would not have reached the stage where I am today nor would my brand have been as recognized. With the blessing of my clients and my team who have supported me at every step of my way to achieving my dream, I think it is possible for me to expand my brand beyond the border of Nepal.
Besides being a fashion designer, I am still actively involved in my family business of manufacturing premium hand knotted carpets and pashmina products. I also serve as a board director of the Radisson Hotel Kathmandu. I am also the creative director of a Germany based label, AnnaRohn.
MISHUS wants all women to feel beautiful, simple yet classy!!
